Six More Die as Suspected Measles Cases Surge Nationwide

Dhaka: Six more people have died with suspected measles across the country in the past 24 hours, as released in a statement by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the press release stated that 904 suspected measles cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of suspected cases to 120,352 between March 15 and July 22. In the same period, 133 new measles cases were confirmed, totaling 14,841 confirmed cases.

Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 103,078 suspected measles patients. Out of these, 99,294 patients have recovered and been discharged. The recent six deaths of suspected measles cases have increased the total number of fatalities to 708 since March 15.

No new deaths from confirmed measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours. However, the total number of confirmed measles deaths stands at 95 between March 15 and July 22.
