Six Dengue Patients Die as 983 New Cases Emerge Overnight

Dhaka: Six more people died from dengue while 983 new cases were detected across the country in the last 24 hours, health officials said today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the period, 141 new patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 111 in Chattogram, 171 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 133 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 227 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 62 in Khulna, 41 in Mymensingh, 78 in Rajshahi, 12 in Rangpur and seven in Sylhet divisions, as stated by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).



Since the beginning of this year, dengue has claimed 269 lives and affected 66,423 people across the country. Last year, the disease claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people nationwide, the DGHS reported.
