Six Dacoits Remanded for Assaulting Policeman in Dhaka

Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Friday placed six dacoits on a two-day remand each in a case lodged over attacking a police officer in the city’s Pallabi kitchen market area. The accused are AL Amin, 36, Md Rajib, 36, Md Bablu, 35, Md Farukh, 33, another Al Amin, 29, and Md Suman, 19.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order as police produced the six before the court and pleaded to place them on a five-day remand each.



Case documents reveal that Inspector Md Masudur Rahman of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) was attacked on the morning of June 12 while shopping in the Kachabazar area. The assailants allegedly robbed him of his mobile phone, jewelry, wristwatch, and Tk 1.26 lakh in cash.



Following the incident, the Inspector filed a case with Pallabi Police Station, naming the six accused along with 10 to 12 unidentified individuals. Acting on the complaint, police conducted a raid in the area and arrested the six suspects on Friday.
