Savar: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six individuals involved in a scheme to defraud people by promising them jobs in various public organizations. The operation took place on the outskirts of the capital, resulting in the capture of the alleged ringleader and his associates.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Sohel Rana alias Milan, aged 33, Tayyab alias Mok, 46, Md. Sajib Munshi, 44, Shamim Ahmed, 45, Md. Mawlazi Ali Khan, 52, and Sohel Rana alias Jinnah, 37. The RAB-4 intelligence team conducted a raid in Savar, leading to the arrest of these suspects.
The operation was initiated after a complaint was filed against Sohel Rana, who allegedly impersonated a military major and took Taka 5 lakh from an individual by promising a job for the complainant’s younger brother in the Ansar. A RAB press release detailed the fraudulent activities and the subsequent raid that led to the arrests.
During the operation, authorities seized one private car, seven mobile phones, and Taka 95,200 in cash from the possession of the suspects. The RAB continues to investigate the extent of the fraud and any additional individuals involved in the operation.
