Kurigram: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has announced plans to transform the historic Sindurmoti Pond, located on the Kurigram-Lalmonirhat border, into a modern tourist center. He declared this initiative while speaking as the chief guest at a preparatory meeting for an upcoming fair held at the pond’s bank.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dulu expressed his vision for Sindurmoti Pond, stating that architects from Dhaka have been commissioned to develop plans for converting the area into an appealing tourist destination. Addressing concerns over unauthorized shops that have compromised the natural beauty of the site, Dulu confirmed that these structures would be dismantled, and encroached lands would be reclaimed with assistance from government surveyors.

As the traditional Sindurmoti Fair approaches, scheduled for March 27, the minister shared his hopes for a significant turnout, anticipating thousands of devotees and visitors from both within the country and abroad. He stressed the importance of enforcing strict measures to ensure order during the fair, underscoring the inclusive spirit of Bangladesh’s independence.

The event was chaired by Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner HM Rokib Haider and conducted by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mononita Das. It was attended by notable figures including Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Annapurna Deb Nath, Kurigram Superintendent of Police Khondaker Fazle Rabbi, Lalmonirhat Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman, and Rajarhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Al Imran. The gathering attracted a large crowd, with thousands of men and women creating a lively atmosphere around the pond.
