Dhaka: A special court here today exempted Rafiqul Islam Madani, popularly known as 'Shishu Bokta' for his short stature, from the charges of four cases filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA). Judge Nur-e Alam of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal passed the order, accepting a plea for the Islamic orator. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the four cases were filed with Tejgaon, Motijheel, Paltan, and Gacha Police Stations of Gazipur. The witnesses could not provide any testimony against Rafiqul, stating they were unaware of the charges. The court, after reviewing all facts and documents, relieved him from the charges in these four cases, public prosecutor Md Rafikul Islam stated. Rafiqul was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on April 8, 2021, from his house in Netrokona, and a case was filed under the Digital Security Act with Gacha Police Station. Subsequently, three more DSI cases were filed against him.
