Dhaka: The Ministry of Shipping has earned Tk 6,576 crore in revenue from various sources during the fiscal year 2024-25. Shipping Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain disclosed this information at a press conference held at the conference room of the Ministry of Shipping at the Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser highlighted that the ministry’s progress in the past 15 years was only 9 percent. However, due to various initiatives by the current government, the ministry has achieved approximately 90 percent success. He expressed gratitude to the officials who contributed to this achievement.
The adviser noted that several projects initiated by the previous government were deemed ineffective and subsequently cancelled. He emphasized that more than a thousand new jobs have been created within the ministry across various organizations, including Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra ports.
Furthermore, the adviser mentioned that the current government has continuously implemented effective measures to ensure the sustainable development of the shipping sector. Senior Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Yousuf, Additional Secretary Delwara Begum, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
