Shilpakala Academy Unveils Programme Lineup for Independence Day Celebrations

Dhaka: Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has announced an extensive lineup of programmes to commemorate the Great Independence Day. The events, which include floral tributes, a documentary screening, a discussion, and a cultural session, are open to the general public, as per today’s press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the observance will commence at 8am with a tribute ceremony at the National Memorial in Savar. Officers, employees, and artists of the academy will lay wreaths to honor the martyrs of the Liberation War.



The main celebration is slated for 6pm at the National Theatre Hall auditorium. The event will feature a documentary screening, a formal discussion, and a cultural programme. Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury will be the chief guest, while State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam will serve as the special guest. Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Mofidur Rahman will chair the session.



Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, will deliver the welcome address. Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, will be the keynote speaker. The evening will open with a 30-minute documentary titled “The People’s President,” followed by the discussion session.



The cultural segment will include choral music, solo performances, and dance, following a specific sequence of performances.
