Chattogram: Opener Ashikur Rahman Shibli hit a century as Bangladesh Men's Emerging team secured a strong position on Day 1 of the opening four-day game against the visiting South African Emerging side at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh reached 233-4 at stumps, with Shibli scoring 104 off 143 balls, including 16 fours and one six. Skipper Shahadat Hossain Dipu remained unbeaten on 42, alongside Pritom Kumar who was not out on 31. The pair added 58 runs to their unbeaten fifth-wicket stand, raising hopes for a substantial first innings total.
After opting to bat first, Shibli made a confident start, despite limited support from fellow opener Chowdhury M Rizwan, who contributed 12 runs. Shibli reached his half-century in just 48 balls before his scoring rate slowed slightly. He completed his century with a six before being dismissed as the third batter, having laid a solid foundation for the team.
