Dhaka: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today emphasized the need for amendments to the Children Act 2013 to bolster the protection of children. "Children should be turned into human resources," she stated during a workshop titled 'Children's Act 2013: Doubts, Confusion and Inconsistencies' organized by the Law Commission and UNICEF Bangladesh at a hotel in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmeen highlighted that child protection and development extend beyond governmental responsibilities, underscoring it as a collective moral and social duty. She expressed that nurturing today's children into self-reliant and responsible citizens would positively shape the future.
Law Commission Chairman Justice Zinat Ara and UNICEF Bangladesh Country Representative Rana Flowers also participated in the workshop as special guests, contributing to discussions surrounding the existing ambiguities and challenges in the implementation of the Children Act 2013.
