Sharmeen Murshid Highlights Youth Role in Building ‘New Bangladesh’

Dhaka: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid praised the youth for their resilience and leadership, emphasizing that they will play a crucial role in building a ‘New Bangladesh.’ She highlighted the potential of the young generation in shaping the nation’s future during a youth rally at the Bangladesh Film Archive auditorium in Agargaon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Murshid remarked on the emergence of new leadership among the youth, especially visible in the wake of the July Uprising. She expressed confidence that the power of the young society will be pivotal in developing the nation. The rally, titled ‘Involvement of the Youth Community in the Protection of Children and Women,’ marked the beginning of a local youth delegation’s journey from Dhaka to tackle child and women abuse across Bangladesh.



Murshid underscored that today’s youth are akin to freedom fighters, urging collective efforts to establish a humane, equal, and violence-free society. She envisioned a state where power is synonymous with love and responsibility with service, aiming to ensure safety for women and children from homes to workplaces and in cyberspace.



The event was a collaborative effort with Nirapad Alliance and Dreams on the Way. Notable speakers included Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Dr. Prakash Kanti Chowdhury, Nirapad Alliance Vice Chairman Barrister Tahmidur Rahman, General Secretary Hatim Sadab Liyan, Treasurer Masum Muhammad, AGM Bayzid, Kotha Bolo Nari founder Narayan Nusrat Haque, and July Warrior Tamim.
