Dhaka: The two-day Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 will commence on the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises tomorrow, aiming to foster cultural harmony and showcase traditional performances.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the festival is organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and managed by the Shilpakala Academy. The event will kick off with a traditional Jatra pala titled “Mahisasur Mardini, Devi Durga,” staged at the Suhrawardy Udyan Muktamancha from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

The festival’s concluding event will occur on Wednesday, October 1, at the Nandan Manch of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, featuring various cultural performances from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The event is open to all, with organizers encouraging participation from people across different walks of life to celebrate cultural heritage and artistic expression.

Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with several other advisers, is expected to attend the festival. Cultural Secretary M Mafidur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, and senior officials from various ministries and government agencies will also be in attendance. Additionally, diplomats from different countries have been invited to grace the event.

This year, under the joint initiative of the Ministry and the Academy, several new cultural programs have been introduced to celebrate Bangladesh’s religious and cultural traditions. These include the ‘Moon Night Joy Ceremony’ on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha and a Cultural Festival held earlier this year in observance of Buddha Purnima 2025. The Sharadiya Festival adds another significant celebration to this growing lineup of inclusive national events.
