Dhaka: The two-day Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 is scheduled to commence tomorrow at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises, promising an enriching experience for attendees. Organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and managed by Shilpakala Academy, the festival aims to foster cultural harmony and highlight traditional performances.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the festival will begin with a traditional Jatra pala titled "Mahisasur Mardini, Devi Durga," which will be presented at the Suhrawardy Udyan Muktamancha from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The festival will conclude on Wednesday, October 1, at the Nandan Manch of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, featuring a diverse range of cultural performances during the same evening hours.
The Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 is open to the public, with organizers encouraging individuals from all backgrounds to participate in the celebration of cultural heritage and artistic expression. Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with other advisers, is expected to attend, while Cultural Secretary M Mafidur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, and senior officials from various ministries and government agencies will also be in attendance. Diplomats from different countries have been invited to grace the event.
This year's festival introduces several new cultural programs under the joint initiative of the Ministry and the Academy, celebrating Bangladesh's religious and cultural traditions. These include the 'Moon Night Joy Ceremony' for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, and a cultural festival held earlier this year in observance of Buddha Purnima 2025. The Sharadiya Festival adds another significant celebration to this lineup of inclusive national events.
