Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit a quick fifty in the first session of day five of the Dhaka Test against Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh were batting on 149 for five at lunch of day five, with Shakib and Liton Das remaining unbeaten at 52 and 48, respectively. Bangladesh secured a lead of eight runs with two more sessions to play with five wickets in hand.

Along the way, Liton completed 2,000 runs in Test cricket as the third-fastest Bangladeshi batter after Mominul Haque and Tamim Iqbal. While Mominul needed 47 innings, Tamim took 53 innings, and Liton did it in 56 innings.

Bangladesh ended day four on 34 for four. Liton and Mushfiqur Rahim were unbeaten.

In the morning session of day five, Bangladesh lost Mushfiuqr for 23.

It was an inswinger from Sri Lankaโ€™s most successful bowler Kasun Rajitha, and they got the wicket they wanted so badly.

Earlier, Bangladesh ended their first innings at 365 with the centuries by Liton and Mushfiqur. In reply, Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal hit a ton each for the visitors and posted a total of 506 runs and secured a lead of 141 runs.
