Bogura: The government has granted administrative approval to increase the bed capacity of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura from 1,200 to 1,800. The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently issued a notification regarding this decision, which was signed by Deputy Secretary Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Finance Division had given its consent on September 1 to a proposal aimed at expanding the hospital's bed capacity. This consent was issued by the Expenditure Management Wing-2 of the Finance Division following a proposal submitted by the Health Services Division on August 4, 2026. The Finance Division's consent letter confirmed the agreement to increase the number of beds and initiate healthcare services in the additional beds, with the stipulation that all relevant laws, regulations, and government procedures be adhered to.

Following the Finance Division's approval, the Health Services Division granted the necessary administrative approval for the expansion. The Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the Director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital have been instructed to undertake the necessary steps to implement this order. The hospital serves as a major healthcare facility in northern Bangladesh, providing advanced treatment and specialized medical services to patients from Bogura and surrounding districts.

The administrative process for revising the hospital's bed capacity and launching healthcare services in the newly approved beds is now complete. Copies of the Finance Division's consent letter were distributed to the Secretary of the Health Services Division, the additional secretary of the Finance Division, and other relevant officials. Similarly, copies of the administrative approval were sent to the Secretary of the Finance Division and other concerned offices.
