Kumarkhali: Former BNP lawmaker Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi has emphasized that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was instrumental in introducing multi-party democracy in Bangladesh. Rumi highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s role in reviving political activities for all parties in the nation following the period of BAKSAL.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rumi made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion held to commemorate the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day at Kumarkhali bus stand. During his address, he called for unity among party members and stressed the importance of working collaboratively to ensure the BNP’s victory in the upcoming election.
Rumi, who is running for the Kushtia-4 constituency, urged party activists to put aside their differences and focus on efforts to attract voters and secure a win for the paddy sheaf symbol. The meeting was presided over by Professor Nawab Ali, the former joint general secretary of Kumarkhali Upazila BNP, and conducted by Advocate SM Satil Mahmud, the former convenor of the upazila BNP.
