Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam today emphasized that Shaheed Minar stands as a powerful symbol of resistance and victory. “We started from here and we were able to celebrate the victory only after coming here,” he stated at the conclusion of the July Revival Procession-2025, organized by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry at Central Shaheed Minar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the procession commenced at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city and concluded at the Central Shaheed Minar. Mahfuj highlighted the role of teachers, social, and cultural activists during the final phase of the July Uprising. They defied curfews and held programs at Shaheed Minar, which served as a significant source of inspiration.
“In all aspects, Shaheed Minar is a symbol of our resistance and victory. It was the place from where one-point movement was officially declared on August 3,” Mahfuj noted. He further mentioned the sacrifice made during last year’s uprising, where approximately 2,000 people were martyred and 20,000 to 25,000 were injured. He stressed that these activities are in remembrance of their sacrifice.
Mahfuj reiterated the importance of remembering the martyrs and feeling the pain of the injured to remain committed to building a new Bangladesh. He concluded by stating that the nation gained a new identity and an opportunity to rebuild the country in exchange for the martyrs’ sacrifice, urging the people to make the most of this opportunity.
