Shahe Alam Urges City Administrators to Enhance Engagement with Citizens

Dhaka: State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, has called upon city corporation administrators to engage more closely with citizens and demonstrate their efficiency in fulfilling their responsibilities to serve the public. He emphasized the importance of direct interaction with residents to ensure that services are delivered effectively.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shahe Alam made these remarks as the chief guest at a review meeting focused on the progress of development activities within city corporations. The meeting was held at the conference room of the Local Government Division. Administrators from nine city corporations-Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barishal, Gazipur, Cumilla, Rangpur, Narayanganj, and Mymensingh-provided updates on ongoing projects and the challenges they face.



The state minister underscored the necessity of maximum preparedness to meet public expectations in service delivery. He assured that the ministry would extend all necessary administrative and technical support to facilitate the activities and project implementations of the city corporations.



Shahe Alam highlighted the need for regular monitoring following project approvals and encouraged city corporations to develop water and sewerage initiatives that align with the current needs and demands of their respective areas. He also stressed the importance of resolving legal issues and filling vacant positions promptly to expedite project implementation.



Further, the minister emphasized the importance of close supervision at the field level and advised a thorough feasibility assessment of projects to prevent future issues. He called for the swift identification of challenges and the acceleration of project implementation through coordinated efforts, asserting that no project should be hindered by the current energy crisis.



The meeting was chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hassan and attended by senior officials from city corporations, the LGRD ministry, and project directors.
