Dhaka: Opposition Leader Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman today announced the intention to foster a humane, discrimination-free, just, and insaf-based Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for a constructive role in parliament.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the LD Hall of Jatiya Sangsad following the prorogation of the 3rd session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, Dr Rahman reiterated the opposition's commitment to the nation's welfare. He emphasized that their demands are centered around the rights and aspirations of the people, without favoring or opposing any specific political party.

Dr Rahman stressed the importance of being a constructive opposition, distinguishing their approach from conventional practices such as creating chaos or engaging in confrontations. He called upon journalists to support their initiatives aimed at realizing the people's aspirations while not hesitating to criticize when mistakes are made.

Highlighting the Jamaat-e-Islami's vision, he asserted the need to prevent any government from exercising arbitrary power and to ensure democratic institutions remain accountable. He expressed a commitment to building a justice-based Bangladesh where discrimination is eradicated and people's rights are safeguarded.

Present at the meeting were Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam and other Jamaat leaders, underscoring the party's unified stance on the proposed initiatives.
