Jhenaidah: At least seven people lost their lives and several others were injured in separate road accidents across Jhenaidah, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, and Pabna districts.
According to United News of Bangladesh, in Jhenaidah, two teenage motorcyclists tragically died after being crushed by a truck in Sadar upazila during the evening. The victims, identified as Arif Hossain and Sohan Ahmed, both aged 17, were residents of Bijoypur village. The accident occurred when their motorcycle was struck by a Mahindra vehicle at Pachmile, causing them to fall under a truck, leading to their instant deaths.
In another incident in Dinajpur’s Birol upazila, a two-month-old baby was killed by a ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus while being carried by its mother. The heartbreaking accident took place in the Narabari area in the evening. The baby had been visiting relatives with its mother and died on the spot. The mother, along with five other women, sustained injuries. Officer-in-Charge of Birol Police Station, Al Imran, confirmed the incident, noting that the victim’s family is not inclined to pursue legal action.
The district of Mymensingh witnessed a head-on collision between a tractor and a Mahindra vehicle in the Shambhuganj area on the Mymensingh-Netrokona road, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a child. The deceased were identified as Rabeya Khatun, aged 60, and a one-and-a-half-year-old child named Toufiq. Three other individuals suffered injuries in the accident.
In Pabna, the life of 18-year-old madrasah student Jesmin Akter Ritu was cut short in a road accident in the Pakshi area of Ishwardi upazila. Ritu, an Alim examinee and daughter of Zahidul Islam from Saraikandi village, was traveling in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with her father when her scarf became entangled in the vehicle’s wheel. She lost balance, fell onto the road, and sustained critical injuries, resulting in her death.
