Dhaka: Health officials today reported the detection of 567 new dengue cases and the death of seven individuals over the past 24 hours. “We recorded deaths of seven dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today,” a spokesman for the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated, noting that 567 new cases were recorded during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DGHS statistics reveal that one death occurred in the Chattogram division, another in Dhaka North City Corporation, three in Dhaka South City Corporation, and one in the Mymensingh division.
The statement further detailed the distribution of the new cases: 69 hospitalizations occurred in the Barishal division, 86 in Chattogram, 92 in the Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 86 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 125 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 41 in the Khulna division, 37 in the Mymensingh division, 25 in the Rajshahi division, two in the Rangpur division, and four in the Sylhet division.
Since the onset of dengue outbreaks this year, Bangladesh has reported 377 deaths and 92,784 cases. In comparison, the previous year saw 575 deaths and 101,214 cases attributed to dengue.
