Chattogram: State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin emphasized the government's commitment to serving citizens and safeguarding their fundamental rights as its primary responsibilities. Speaking at a relief distribution event organized by the non-governmental development organization 'Pratyashi' at the Gani Community Center in Sarkar Hat under Hathazari upazila, Mir Helal articulated the government's dedication to ensuring the welfare of all Bangladeshis, irrespective of their political affiliation, religion, caste, or ethnicity.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister reiterated the government's duty to foster the overall development of every citizen without discrimination. He recalled directives from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, delivered after the government took office, which instructed public representatives, government officials, and service providers to prioritize citizens in governance.

He stated, "The people are the real owners of the country. It is our responsibility to ensure public services and uphold their fundamental rights." Mir Helal highlighted the resilience of leaders and activists from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliates, who have faced repression yet continued to provide relief and humanitarian assistance during crises.

"Our politics is free from discrimination. We want to serve every Bangladeshi, irrespective of political views, religion, or social background," he remarked, emphasizing inclusivity in the government's approach. The state minister also showcased the development progress in Hathazari, noting the initiation of over 450 projects in the upazila since the current government assumed office, with approximately 380 completed or nearing completion.

Furthermore, Mir Helal pointed out significant improvements in Hathazari's road and infrastructure network, addressing past challenges faced by local residents, particularly women, due to poor communication facilities. Following his address, Mir Helal distributed relief assistance to members of 'Pratyashi' and flood-affected residents.

The event was chaired by Pratyashi Executive Director Monowara Begum and attended by Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Abdullah Al Momin, local police officials, political leaders, and other distinguished guests.
