Rajshahi: A seminar titled "Mastering Communications: the Key to Personal and Professional Success" was held at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) to emphasize the significance of communication skills in professional development and in meeting modern industry demands.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seminar was organized by the Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) Club and took place at the RUET hall room. The event highlighted the essential role communication skills play for students, specifically in their professional growth. Abdul Kayum, Bangladesh Head of Communications for the United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP), served as the keynote speaker, while Prof Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman of the IPE Department and Chief Patroniser of the IPE Club, presided over the seminar.
In his address, Abdul Kayum emphasized that communication extends beyond speaking, incorporating listening, understanding, and the ability to influence others. He stressed that communication skills are crucial for success in both personal and professional realms, urging students to develop proficiency in communication alongside their academic pursuits.
Prof Mosharraf Hossain shared insights on the facilities available at RUET, such as a video conference hall, which support the development of professional ICT and communication skills. He highlighted the institution's commitment to fostering communication skills among students to better prepare them for the demands of modern industries. Additionally, he pointed out that video conferencing could serve as a tool for global connection, facilitating knowledge exchange and skill development.
