Nilphamari:A seminar focusing on 'Applied nutrition for good health' took place today in Nilphamari with the goal of promoting public awareness about healthy eating habits.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) under the Ministry of Agriculture. It was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Nilphamari. Mohammad Nayiruzzaman, the Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari, attended as the chief guest.
Dr. Md Abdur Razzaque, Principal Scientific Officer at BIRTAN headquarters in Narayanganj, presided over the seminar. Dr. Md Sadekul Islam, Head and Senior Scientific Officer at the Regional Office of BARI-TARC in Pirganj, Rangpur, delivered the keynote presentation. He emphasized the critical role of food and nutrition in maintaining good health and advocated for a diverse diet to obtain essential nutrients.
Dr. Razzaque highlighted the importance of consuming safe and balanced diets while maintaining cleanliness and healthy eating habits. He stressed the necessity of washing food items with clean water before cooking and considering dietary diversity.
Deputy Commissioner Nayiruzzaman addressed the increasing reliance on fast-prepared meals due to busy lifestyles. He urged prioritizing health by choosing nutritious foods and fostering awareness of food safety and healthy habits among children.
Special guests included Ms. Humaira Mondal, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Nilphamari, and Civil Surgeon Dr. Md Abdur Razzaque. The seminar was attended by fifty officials and representatives from various government organizations.
