Sherpur: Vegetable seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed today among 635 small and marginal farmers of Nakla upazila of the district under an agriculture incentive programme. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Jahangir Alam inaugurated the distribution programme in front of the upazila parishad on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Upazila Agriculture Department reported that under the agricultural incentive programme, 230 farmers of the upazila received nine packets of vegetable seeds each for cultivating vegetables in their homesteads during the current season. Additionally, 405 farmers received seeds for gourd, brinjal, cucumber, and sweet pumpkin for use on 20 decimal of cultivable land in the field.
Furthermore, each farmer was provided with 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizers. The event was attended by several officials, including Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sadia Afrin Annie, Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shahriar Morsalin Mehedi, Agricultural Extension Officer Agriculturist Sagar Chandra Dey, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Rahul Amin, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers working in different blocks, as well as officers and employees of various departments and beneficiary farmers.
