Cumilla: Amon seeds and fertilizers were distributed among 1,350 farmers of Burichang upazila of the district today. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Tanvir Hossain inaugurated the distribution programme at the upazila agriculture office auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was presided over by Upazila agriculture officer Krishibid Afrina Akhter. The distribution program saw participation from agriculture officer Md. Atiqur Rahman, assistant agriculture officer Shamsul Alam, deputy assistant plant protection officer Billal Hossain Khan, and Burichang Press Club President Kazi Khorshed Alam.
Each of the 1,350 farmers received 5 kg of paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer. Moreover, additional agricultural resources were distributed, including 5 coconut seedlings each to 110 farmers and 46 institutions. Hybrid pepper seeds and pesticides were given to 40 farmers, lemon seedlings and fertilizer to another 40 farmers, 60 palm seedlings, vegetable seeds and fertilizer to 70 farmers, mango seedlings to 34 farmers, and neem, wood apple, jam, and jackfruit seedlings to 800 students.
The Upazila agriculture officer highlighted that this programme aims to encourage farmers towards modern and sustainable agricultural practices. The initiative seeks to maintain environmental balance and ensure safe food production by promoting the planting of fruit and herbal plants.
