Bagerhat: Seeds of winter vegetables were distributed among 530 small and marginal farmers in the Chitalmari upazila of the district today with the aim of increasing production during the Rabi season. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Sajjad Hossain spearheaded the distribution at a function held on the premises of the Upazila Agriculture Office this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by several key officials, including Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Habibur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer Md. Ahmed Iqbal, and Upazila LGED Office Engineer Md. Saddam Hossain. Other notable attendees were Upazila Women Affairs Officer Md. Hafizur Rahman, Upazila ICT Officer Sheikh Mohammad Faisal, Upazila Social Service Office Officer-in-Charge Ranjan Halder, Upazila Election Office Officer Ruman Hussain, and Upazila Academic Supervisor Pradeep Kumar Bhowmik.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Sifat Al Maruf explained that a total of 9 packets containing 7 types of seeds were distributed among the farmers in 7 unions of the upazila. These packets included seeds for gourd, sweet pumpkin, brinjal, radish, red cabbage, artichoke, spinach, and peas.
