Dhaka: Security has been tightened across the capital following a series of crude bomb explosions and bus arson incidents, with police setting up more than 200 checkpoints and deploying additional forces at key entry points.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, law enforcement agencies have increased security measures across Dhaka to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents. Chief of Detective Branch (DB) and Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam emphasized that those involved in these acts will face the law.
In response to the incidents, entry and exit points of flyovers throughout the capital have been placed under strict surveillance. Check posts have been established and plainclothes police officers are actively monitoring the security situation.
The decision to enhance security measures follows multiple incidents of crude bomb blasts and bus fires on Friday. This has led law enforcement agencies to intensify searches, patrols, and surveillance efforts across the city.
The DMP has confirmed that police personnel are now stationed at four major entry points to Dhaka, conducting searches at over 200 checkpoints on significant roads. The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has also increased patrols and established more checkpoints at strategic locations since Friday night.
Investigations into the explosions and arson incidents are underway. Authorities have filed general diaries and cases, and are collecting CCTV footage from the sites to identify those responsible.
Law enforcement agencies have stated that the enhanced surveillance, checkpoint operations, and patrols will continue throughout the capital to maintain security and prevent further incidents.
