Dhaka: The second phase of the special measles vaccination campaign began today. The programme will continue from 9 am to 5 pm on all days except weekends, during which over 12 lakh children will be vaccinated in the capital Dhaka and across four city corporation areas.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhit inaugurated the measles-rubella vaccination programme in Dhaka North City this morning. The state minister emphasized that ensuring good health for children in backward areas is one of the government’s key goals.

Dr Muhit highlighted the importance of spreading the message of the programme among the people, stating, “This is an urgent initiative, and we must work sincerely to make it successful. For the benefit of the people, many temporary centres have been set up alongside permanent ones.”

Additionally, he urged parents to ensure their children are vaccinated, noting that the outbreak cannot be controlled unless at least 95 percent of children are brought under vaccination coverage.
