Kathmandu: Lawmaker Raghuji Panta has mentioned that the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding banning construction of structures on an additional 20 metres of the river bank in the Kathmandu Valley has created huge dilemma.
During a special hour of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Panta stressed that the government immediately should go for a vacate over SC’s decision reconsidering the decision and make it timely.
“It was seen that attention was not paid towards Bagmati civilization while making verdict. The SC should revise its verdict bearing the sentiments of Kathmandu Valley folks in mind”, he explained.
Lawmaker Panta underlined, “Many shrines including Jalbinayak, Gharneshwor located at river banks. Questions are raised what should be dome with these shrines. Pashupati and Guheshwori temple are within 20 meters from the river. What will be the existence of such shrines if additional 20 meters criteria will be implemented?”
Stating that he was fully agreed on the argument that the r
ivers of the Kathmandu Valley are getting polluted day by day, he urged the government to think from a different way for the conservation of the rivers.
