A schoolgirl was killed and another injured after being hit by a speeding microbus on Khulna-Mawa highway in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mariam Khatun, 10, a fourth grader of Bailtali Government Primary School.
Mariam and her classmate Tajmira Khatun, 12, were hit by the speeding microbus on the highway on their way to school, said Fakirhat Piljong Union Parishad Chairman Zahidul Islam.
The two injured were rushed to the upazila Health Complex.
Mariam was then sent to Khulna Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, he added.
