Dhaka: A 16-year-old school student was injured in an attack by some muggers in Mohammadpur area in the capital on Sunday night. Witnesses said Sohan, a 10th grader of Turag International School, was attacked around 9 pm on Number Two Road of Nabingar Housing while trying to stop a snatching bid. He was rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 11:30 pm.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Sohan's father, Jamal Hossain, recounted that his son and a friend were passing through Nabingar Housing when some snatchers attempted to grab a mobile phone from his friend. In an effort to protect his friend, Sohan dropped the phone and ran towards him, but the robbers stabbed him below both knees.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, confirmed that the injured boy was brought to the hospital from the Mohammadpur area. 'The family told us that muggers had attacked him. We have informed Mohammadpur police station,' he said.
