Dhaka: Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury announced on Monday that the election schedule for the Bangladesh Cha Sramik Union, also known as the Tea Workers’ Union, is expected to be declared by August 30. This announcement came during a meeting with a delegation from the Bangladesh Tea Association at his office.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the discussions at the meeting revolved around the overall development of the tea industry and the welfare of its workers. Minister Choudhury engaged in meaningful dialogues with tea estate owners to address the legitimate demands of tea workers. The discussions aimed at enhancing tea production, improving the living standards of workers, and ensuring harmonious relations between tea estate owners and their workers.
The Bangladesh Tea Association representatives expressed their gratitude to the government for its ongoing support in the advancement of the tea sector. The meeting was attended by Labour and Employment Secretary Abdur Rahman Tarafder, Bangladesh Tea Association Chairman Kamran T Rahman, and General Secretary Kazi Muzaffar Ahmed, among others.
