SCB and UKEF Collaborate to Enhance Bangladesh-UK Trade and Export Diversification

Dhaka: Standard Chartered Bangladesh and UK Export Finance (UKEF) recently held a roundtable discussion in Dhaka, focusing on enhancing the Bangladesh-UK trade corridor and supporting Bangladesh's export diversification efforts.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the event gathered senior representatives from Standard Chartered Bangladesh, the British High Commission in Dhaka, UKEF, and leaders from several industries including pharmaceuticals, light engineering, agribusiness, seafood, and footwear. The participants discussed market opportunities, challenges, and the significance of trade finance and export credit.

The roundtable featured discussions on UKEF-backed financing, structuring export credit facilities, and aligning project pipelines with national development priorities such as infrastructure, sustainability, and industrial upgrading.

Enamul Huque, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of deepening trade and investment ties with the United Kingdom, describing it as critical for Bangladesh's development. He highlighted that collaboration with UK Export Finance can bring UK expertise, technology, and capital to Bangladeshi clients.

The event provided an opportunity for UKEF representatives to engage with business leaders, identifying areas where UK companies and finance can support local growth. Through its partnership with UKEF, Standard Chartered aims to connect Bangladeshi businesses with UK suppliers and technology to modernize operations and enhance productivity.
