SC Closes Half-Day in Memory of Barrister Abdur Razzaq

Dhaka: Bangladesh Supreme Court today remained half-day closed in memory of eminent lawyer Barrister Abdur Razzaq. High court and Appellate divisions of the Supreme Court postponed their judicial activities for half-day since noon today to show respect to the eminent lawyer.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the SC administration issued a notification stating that the judicial activities of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court would continue till 11:00 am and the judicial activities of the High Court Division would continue till 1:15 pm on Monday. This move was to honor the memory and contributions of Barrister Abdur Razzaq.



Earlier in the day, the 2nd Namaj-E-Janaza for the late Barrister Abdur Razzaq was held at the Supreme Court’s Inner Garden premises at 11:00 am. His first Namaz-E-Janaza took place at Taqwa Mosque in Dhanmondi after Esha prayers on Sunday.



Barrister Abdur Razzaq, who served as the former Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and was a senior lawyer at the Bangladesh Supreme Court, passed away at Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhanmondi on Sunday while undergoing treatment. His death has been met with condolences from many, including Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, who expressed deep shock and sympathy to Razzaq’s family members.
