Jashore: Satyajit Biswas, 64, has transitioned from a dedicated teacher to a successful entrepreneur through farming dairy and cultivating agro products, defying the stereotype of a sedentary retirement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Satyajit Biswas had a remarkable 31-year teaching career at Dhopadi Secondary School in Abhaynagar, where he was known for his unwavering commitment, never taking a single day of leave. His passion for education and his students earned him the nickname "Computer Man of Mathematics." Upon his retirement on October 9, 2021, he embarked on a new journey, creating a dairy farm in his village of Kuchliya, Monirampur upazila, Jashore.
Satyajit began his new venture with the purchase of a Sindhi cow and later a Friesian cow, which led to increased milk production and significant profits. He has earned between Taka 3 to 4 lakh annually from his dairy farm and Taka 3.5 to 4 lakh from his agro products. His entrepreneurial journey is supported by his wife and a small team of employees.
His story is not isolated. Other retired teachers like Nazrul Islam and Sunil Roy have also found self-reliance through similar ventures. These initiatives have provided employment for 15 to 20 young people in the community.
Throughout his teaching career, Satyajit earned numerous accolades for his dedication, including awards from the Ministry of Education and The Daily Star. He invested these financial rewards into expanding his business and establishing a fruit orchard, emphasizing that true honor lies in contributing to positive change.
Satyajit lives with his wife, caring for his centenarian mother, while his children have pursued higher education and professions. Despite fewer visitors now, he cherishes his memories from teaching, valuing them as his greatest treasure. Satyajit Biswas's legacy of dedication and entrepreneurship continues to inspire others, proving that success can be achieved at any life stage.
