Atwari: Sarjis Alam, the Chief Organizer for the Northern Region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), has stated that India's opinion regarding Bangladesh holds little significance until New Delhi agrees to extradite Sheikh Hasina, whom he labels as a mass murderer and the orchestrator of genocide. Hasina has been sentenced to death, a verdict that Alam highlights as fulfilling a critical commitment by the government through the completion of the judicial process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarjis Alam made these remarks to journalists during the inauguration ceremony of the traditional Aloakhowa Rash Mela in Atwari, Panchagarh. He emphasized the importance of India's cooperation in the extradition of Sheikh Hasina to face justice in Bangladesh.

The NCP leader also acknowledged visible progress on issues related to the July Charter, the referendum, and the note of dissent. He reiterated that Sheikh Hasina is responsible for numerous crimes committed during her tenure, including disappearances, murders, and extrajudicial killings.

Sarjis Alam further noted that while the maximum penalty under Bangladeshi law has been delivered, he views the sentence as negligible compared to the extent of crimes committed by Hasina.
