Sunamganj: National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam today emphasized the urgent need for fundamental reforms in the country as the national elections, scheduled for February next year, draw nearer. Addressing a coordination meeting of the NCP’s Sunamganj District and Upazila Committees at the Public Library, Alam highlighted several key issues that require immediate attention.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the NCP leader also insisted on the prosecution of those responsible for the deaths during the July Uprising, underscoring the party’s commitment to justice and accountability. Alam’s remarks at the meeting were echoed by other senior party members, including NCP Joint Convener Ehtesham Haque, Joint Member Secretary Pratim Das, and District NCP Chief Convener Dewan Sajaur Raja Suman, who were present at the event.
Alam confirmed that the National Citizen Party will participate in the upcoming elections using the Shapla symbol. He issued a stern warning that the party would resort to street protests if the symbol is not allocated to them. Additionally, Alam asserted that individuals responsible for what he termed the ‘Awami genocide’ should not be involved in any future elections in Bangladesh, highlighting the party’s stance on ensuring a fair and accountable electoral process.
