Rangpur:Hundreds of Sanatan devotees gathered at the Ramakrishna Ashrama and Ramakrishna Mission mandap in the Mahiganj area to celebrate Kumari Puja during 'Mohaassthami.'

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event drew large crowds to witness the worship of goddess Durga as a 'Kumari,' representing a pure-hearted girl. Participants, including young girls and women, wore traditional attire and celebrated with religious rituals.

A four-year-and-three-month-old girl, Arundhati Bagchi, was adorned to represent Goddess Durga. She was seated on a throne before the deity's idol at 930 am. Shree Krishna Jha, the priest, conducted the formal worship in the presence of many devotees.

The celebration lasted an hour, during which devotees offered water, clothes, flowers, and ornaments to the 'Kumari.' The President of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Dr. Ajay Kumar Roy, remarked on the reflection of 'Mahamaya's' power in the young girl.

After the rituals, prasad was distributed among the devotees.
