Dhaka: The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to launch the sale of essential commodities through 60 mobile trucks in Dhaka metropolitan starting tomorrow, in addition to its regular distribution channels.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these mobile units will offer subsidized edible oil, sugar, and lentils to smart family card holders, as part of the TCB’s ongoing efforts to provide affordable essentials to the public.
The mobile truck sales will be operational from August 10 to September 13, 2025, excluding Fridays, ensuring continuous access to subsidized products for 30 days. Beyond Dhaka, TCB has also planned an extensive distribution network, deploying 25 trucks in Chattogram Metropolitan City, 6 in Gazipur Metropolitan City, 3 in Cumilla Metropolitan City, 8 in Dhaka District, 12 in Cumilla District, 4 in Faridpur District, 5 in Patuakhali District, and 5 in Bagerhat District. This extended service will operate from August 10 to August 31, 2025, excluding Fridays, co
vering a period of 19 days.
Each mobile truck is expected to supply essentials to 500 consumers daily, aiming to reach a wide segment of the population with affordable products. Consumers can purchase edible oil (2 liters) at Taka 230, sugar (1 kg) at Taka 80, and lentils (2 kg) at Taka 140. The prices for smart family card holders will remain consistent with current rates, ensuring continued affordability for registered consumers.
