Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour and Employment Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. In a condolence message issued today, he acknowledged her tenure as a three-time Prime Minister and her influential role as a political leader.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sakhawat highlighted Begum Khaleda Zia’s contributions to the movement for democracy, the multi-party political system, and the establishment of people’s rights in Bangladesh. He emphasized that her leadership during movements against autocracy and fascism will remain a significant part of the nation’s history.
Sakhawat noted that the nation will remember Khaleda Zia’s contributions to the country with eternal respect. Her efforts in restoring democracy and developing multi-party politics were praised, with her leadership and work seen as ongoing sources of inspiration for the nation.
He concluded by praying for the eternal peace of her soul and expressing deep sympathy to her family and relatives.
