Manikganj:Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain emphasized the need for Bangladesh to become self-reliant and prosperous by utilizing its own resources and capabilities, moving away from dependency.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister urged for national unity and collective efforts, reminiscent of the 1971 independence struggle, to achieve this goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
During a views exchange meeting organized by the Manikganj district Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at the District Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Sakhawat highlighted the government's initiatives in the agriculture sector, particularly the appointment of new fertiliser dealers in every union to address supply irregularities and ensure fair prices for farmers.
Criticizing past government practices, Sakhawat described the former quick-rental power plants as "rental for thieves," asserting they were established to misuse public funds. He stated that the current government focuses on expanding solar power systems to alleviate public suffering and provide uninterrupted services at key institutions like hospitals.
The event was chaired by Manikganj district BNP Convening Committee Member Advocate Azad Hossain Khan and attended by lawmakers SA Jinnah Kabir and Moinul Islam Khan, as well as Manikganj Zilla Parishad Administrator Jamilur Rashid Khan, among others.
