Accra:Sajek Valley, a well-known tourist spot in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati, has reopened to visitors following a four-day closure due to security concerns.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, tourists can visit Sajek Valley without restrictions from October 16 to 21, a decision made to facilitate travel during the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival. An emergency public notice signed by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi has officially reopened all tourist sites in the valley. This notice revises the directives from an earlier notice issued on October 11.

Previously, the district administration had halted tourist entry and activities in Sajek Valley starting at 600 pm on October 11. Tourists present in the area were instructed to leave by 500 pm on October 13.

Before the administration's announcement, the Sajek Karbari Association and Sajek Public Rights Protection Committee initiated an indefinite road blockade on the morning of October 11. This action stranded many vehicles, including tourist buses, causing inconvenience to tourists, including women and children. The blockade was lifted after discussions with the authorities.

The reopening of Sajek Valley is anticipated to be a relief for tourism-related businesses and travelers ahead of the Durga Puja holidays.
