Amid the controversy over the political identity of Shaon Prodhan, shot dead in Narayanganj on September 1, his elder brother Farhad Prodhan on Sunday joined a rally of Jubo Dal in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office and sought justice.
Speaking at the programme, he urged the government to carry out an impartial probe into the incident and put the killers of his brother on trial.
Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal arranged the rally protesting the killing of Shaon and demanding legal action against those involved in the murder incident. Farhad appeared at the gathering and sat with the senior BNP leaders on the stage.
Later, speaking at the programme, he said, “Brothers how are you? My mother, my family and I are not well. I want justice for the murder of my younger brother.”

Farhad said his brother along with a local BNP leader Sadek joined the BNP programme, marking its 44th founding anniversary. “When the police were firing, my brother gave his chest and received the bullets to protect Sadek Bhai.”
Farhad alleged when some BNP leaders and activists, including Sadek, tried to take bullet-hit Shaon to a hospital but police obstructed them.
He demanded the government investigate who actually shot him dead instead of blaming BNP. “The bullet entered his chest and exited through his back. My family and I want an investigation and a fair trial.
Sahon’s brother joins Jubo Dal rally, seeks justice
About a case reportedly filed by his other brother Milon Prodhan, Farhad said police took the signature of his brother on papers before handing over Shaon’s body.
Speaking at the programme, BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas said Shaon was gunned down unlawfully with a Chinese rifle and warned that the responsible police officer will be held responsible for it someday.
Earlier, requesting Farhad Prodhan to stand up, BNP chairperson’s adviser Zainul Abedin Farroque urged the ruling party leaders and the Narayanganj police superintendent to see Shaon belonged to which party.

He said a police officer soaked the street with blood of Shaon by shooting with a Chinese Rifle. “You’ll be accountable for shedding every drop of blood of Shaon.”
Earlier, Amir Khasru, additional superintendent of police, claimed that Shaon’s brother Milon filed a case against 500 unnamed BNP leaders and activists in connection with the killing.
BNP has been claiming that Shaon was the general secretary of ward 1 unit under Boktaboli union of Juba Dal.
