Thimphu: Bangladesh suffered a 2-0 defeat to India in the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship at Changlimithang Stadium. This marked Bangladesh’s first loss in the four-nation tournament after their earlier victory over Bhutan.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this was India’s second consecutive win in the championship, having previously defeated Nepal 7-0. With this victory, India now leads the standings with six points from two matches, while Bangladesh remains at three points from the same number of games.
The match saw India take an early lead with a goal in the 14th minute by Pearl Fernandes, who scored after a solo run. The second goal was scored in the 76th minute by Bonifilia Shullai, following a corner routine, leaving the Bangladeshi goalkeeper Yearzan with no chance to save.
Bangladesh is set to play their next match against Nepal on August 24 at the same venue.
