Sabbir Tower Fire Under Control After Four-Hour Effort

Dhaka: A fire that broke out in Sabbir Tower at Purana Paltan in the capital on Saturday night was brought under control after four hours of frantic efforts. The fire originated on the top floor of the multi-storey building opposite Fars Hotel at 3/4 Purana Paltan around 8:25pm on Saturday, as confirmed by Md Anwarul Islam, media officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, electronic goods were stored on the top floor of the building. Seven firefighting engines were dispatched to the scene and successfully doused the flames around 12:25am on Sunday.



There were no reports of casualties at the time of reporting. Md Anwarul Islam noted that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known.
