Dhaka: Rumor Scanner, a fact-checking organization in Bangladesh, has identified a fake news story claiming that a student died during a protest at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rumor Scanner's investigation revealed that the false news is being circulated on social media, alleging a student's death during a clash between law enforcement and students protesting in front of the Secretariat. The investigation found that a student named Hasirun Mahin Surya was injured during the incident. However, Surya himself confirmed to Rumor Scanner that he returned home safely after receiving first aid at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The organization emphasized that the news of the student's death in the Secretariat incident is entirely a rumor.
