Newly-appointed Vice-chancellor (VC) of
Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Prof SM Abdur
Razzaque has called for building RUET as a centre of excellence after the
best use of last July-August spirit of students-people revolution.
He made the call while addressing a view-sharing meeting with teachers,
officers and employees at the central auditorium today.
Expressing his determination the VC said utmost emphasis will be given on
transforming the RUET into a hub of education and research for building a new
Bangladesh.
He also urged the teachers and others concerned to perform their duties with
utmost sincerity and honesty to attain the cherished goal.
Earlier on Monday last, Prof Abdur Razzaque joined RUET as its new VC. On
October 27, he was given appointment as RUET VC as per order of the President
and Chancellor of the university.
Prior to the new assignment, Prof Razzaque was working as a teacher in the
department of electrical and electronics engineering at RUET since 1
999.
Earlier, he obtained his B.Sc Engineering in 1995 and M.Sc Engineering
degrees in 2007 from RUET in addition to Masters of Engineering and PhD from
Raucous University in Japan in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
Born in a respectable Muslim family in Bhulbaria village under Shingra
upazila of Natore district, Prof Razzaque bagged a number of awards at home
and abroad in recognition of his laudable contribution to the field of
electrical and electronics engineering.
