Dhaka: A team of students from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) is participating in the 'Bangladesh Innovation Fair-2026'. The three-day innovation fair, organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, has been inaugurated from Saturday at the Novo theatre in the capital. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of RUET Professor Dr. S M Abdur Razzak was present at the inauguration of the fair to encourage the students. During this time, he visited the students' stalls.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, with the theme 'Innovate to Market' in focus, the main objective of this fair is to bring together the country's universities, research institutions, innovators, industries, investors and relevant stakeholders on a single platform to link research and innovation with practical application and commercialization. Through this, an opportunity will be created to make the creative ideas of young innovators market-oriented and to effectively utilize them for the economic and technological development of the country.

In this year's fair, a total of seven teams of RUET students are participating to showcase their innovative ideas and projects at two stalls (Stall No. 68 and 69). The teams are being supervised by the Student Welfare Director of RUET Prof Dr. Rabiul Islam Sarkar and Assistant Director Abu Ismail Siddiquee. The active participation of RUET students in this national-level event will highlight the university's innovation, technology and research-based activities on a larger scale.

At the same time, it is expected that it will create an opportunity to connect the students' innovative thinking, problem-solving skills and technology-based initiatives with the industrial and investment sectors. Various technologies and project prototypes and posters invented by RUET students will be displayed at the fair. Visitors, researchers, industrial entrepreneurs, investors and relevant stakeholders will get an opportunity to gain direct insight into the innovative projects of RUET students.

Concerned officials have expressed hope that the participation of RUET students will not only develop their innovative skills but also play an important role in further strengthening research, innovation, entrepreneurship creation and industry-academia linkage at the university. In the fair, different public and private universities, research institutions, banks, corporate institutions and other technology-related organisations of the country will participate. In addition to the display of innovative projects, various plenary and parallel sessions, roundtable meetings and dialogues will be held at the fair.
