Rajshahi university: The Rajshahi University (RU) authority organized a freshers' orientation ceremony for the newly-admitted first-year (honours) students of the 2024-2025 academic session, marking the occasion with festivity and fanfare.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the orientation for the new students from various departments and institutions took place at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium on the university campus. Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hasan Naquib welcomed the students, presenting them with flower sticks and wishing them success during their time at the university.
The event also featured speeches from Pro-VCs Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Prof Matiar Rahman, Students Adviser Prof Amirul Islam, Proctor Prof Mahbubur Rahman, and President of the Sexual Harassment and Repression Prevention Committee Prof Deel Ara Hossain. In his address, the VC encouraged the students to enjoy their student life while remaining mindful of their responsibilities. He emphasized that the purpose of education is to gain knowledge from reality and to use it for the betterment of mankind.
This year, approximately 4,309 students have been admitted to 59 departments under 12 faculties and two institutions at the university.
